Doing Business in the KNC Network. Success or Failure?

Lublin is a city of great potential and energy on the one hand, and a difficult marketplace for new entrepreneurs trying to establish their presence in the industry on the other, due to strong competition in almost every area. Marek Bruszkiewicz worked as an independent entrepreneur in the clothing industry for many years to finally try his luck in real estate, based on a well proven business concept. Having analysed offers from all franchising networks in Poland he chose KNC.

It has been a few months since you started working in KNC's franchising system – what is your current view of that period?

Cooperation with KNC has been very helpful at the planning and organisational stage and during the first months of running the business. You get the comfort of basing on well-tried patterns. Advice and assistance from KNC staff are invaluable. I would like to give my special thanks here to Mr. Józef Tendera from the Tarnow branch. When I contact a customer, the fact that we operate as a member of a nationwide network with over 50 branch offices works as a great marketing tool. It is very important to have access to document templates and agency operating procedures, and we got all of these from KNC. Without those elements it would be much harder for me to start, and first of all, it would involve much more stress and uncertainty about my future business success. So my view of those last few months is positive and I would definitely recommend taking KNC's franchising offer to anyone. As a matter of fact, I got a phone call recently from a person who was interested in franchising and I told them the same.

When you started your cooperation with the network you must have had some expectations. Have you been able to fulfil all of your plans?

My main idea was to get the know-how to run the agency. I think I'm on a good road to learning those skills now. It would be much harder without the initial capital which was the support provided by the network. I hoped for easier entrance on the highly competitive market with the support of the well-known brand, and I wasn't disappointed.

We have been talking about benefits from being a member of the KNC network. And what do you think are its weak points?

The KNC brand is not very well known in Lublin so the tagline "national network of 50 offices" was of more help to us. Now, after my commercials have been run, the name KNC has been gaining popularity in Lublin. If I were to formulate conclusions concerning any changes I would say that KNC should take steps to build the image of the network on the national level. Advertising and marketing activity on the nationwide level would be very helpful.

The Specialised Training Centre associated with KNC periodically recruits and trains candidates for assistant real estate agents. Do you think the system of recruitment and training is sufficient?

Ms. Ewelina Kędzior helps me a lot by forwarding candidates' CVs to me. I will be sending candidates for the training in Tarnow for the next round of recruitment. I think the training offered in Tarnow is very valuable. My people keep recounting some elements of the training all the time. Especially those who went through training courses delivered by Mr. Rafał Stec, the owner of the KNC network.

When preparing the franchising offer our analysis department assumed that the first transactions would be made in the 3rd month of office operation. Was it so in the case of your agency? Is your outlet fetching the desired income?

Yes, we managed to get the first two deals almost exactly at the end of the 3rd month. We made another great success at that time by making a very attractive deal with a good commission. Fee for that deal was paid a month later and made it possible for us to take up more extensive advertising activity. It gave an impulse for our agency to grow.
